The shift to working from home, which has intensified due Covid-19, increased our reliance on communication technology and the need communicate effectively via computer-mediated especially text. Paralinguistic cues, such as repeated punctuation, are used compensate for lack of non-verbal cues in text-based formats. However, it is unclear whether these indeed bridge potential gap between writer’s intentions reader’s interpretations. A pilot study two experiments investigated effect using punctuation behavioral intention assist an email writer a work-related situation.
